Pool Construction Nearing End
City crews will begin putting water in the new Beloit Swimming Pool any day now. Just 18 months ago a group of volunteers from the community formed a Pool Committee to help educate the public on problems with the old pool. They also worked to develop the vision for the new pool that is nearly finished.
The new pool will open its doors for the first time at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 26th during the Homecoming Weekend Celebration.
Gearing Up for Homecoming Weekend
Final preparations are being made for the annual Homecoming Weekend celebration in Beloit on May 26th through the 28th. The parade line up will begin on Mill Street between 5th & 8th streets. Volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce will begin lining up parade participants starting at 8:30 AM
The introduction of all 1962 graduates and veterans will begin at the intersection of Main & Mill at 9:30 AM and the Parade begins at 10:00 AM. Each participant in the parade will fill out an entry form when they arrive for the line up and will be placed in order of their arrival.
Following the parade there will be a community "Picnic in the Park" at Chautauqua Park. Several local organizations will be serving food. The Picnic has been moved to the west end of the park at the shelter houses by the tennis courts. The picnic is a great opportunity to mingle and visit with alumni and guests.
The Talking Tombstones program has been scheduled for 2:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday at the Elmwood Cemetery.
