Pool Week
With the Grand Opening of the new Beloit Pool just around the corner the Beloit Pool Committee has planned a week long celebration. On Monday, May 21st they will have a "Cool with the Pool T-shirt Day". Dig out your cool pool shirt and take part in the pool tours, purchase Summer pool passes and get your raffle tickets for great prizes. The Pool T-shirt Day will be May 21st from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
The pool tours and Summer pool pass sales will continue Tuesday and Thursday, May 22nd and 24th from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.
On Friday, May 24th there will be a "Welcome Home Pool Tour" for alumni to get a sneak peek at the pool. Again there will be tours and Summer Pool pass sales. This will last from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.
Finally the Grant Opening will be Saturday, May 26th. All current and former pool employees will have their picture taken in front of the pool at 11:30 AM. There will be a ribbon cutting at 12:30 PM and Raffle Winners will be announced at 12:45 PM.
The doors to the pool will open at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 26th.
Raffle tickets are being sold for a chance to be the first off the diving board, first around the Lazy River, Free Individual Admittance and a free treat from the concession stand.
Gearing Up for Homecoming Weekend
Final preparations are being made for the annual Homecoming Weekend celebration in Beloit on May 26th through the 28th. The parade line up will begin on Mill Street between 5th & 8th streets. Volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce will begin lining up parade participants starting at 8:30 AM
The introduction of all 1962 graduates and veterans will begin at the intersection of Main & Mill at 9:30 AM and the Parade begins at 10:00 AM. Each participant in the parade will fill out an entry form when they arrive for the line up and will be placed in order of their arrival.
Following the parade there will be a community "Picnic in the Park" at Chautauqua Park. Several local organizations will be serving food. The picnic is a great opportunity to mingle and visit with alumni and guests.
The Talking Tombstones program has been scheduled for 2:00 PM both Saturday and Sunday at the Elmwood Cemetery.
There will also be a Cruz'n Mill Street Reunion Saturday night. This will be the time to hop in your car and cruise Mill Street from 8:00 to 10:00 PM.
The Beloit Country Club is hosting a dance with Tim Anthony and the Animals from 9:00 to Midnight.

Frasier & Johnson Welcome New Attorney
The Law Office of Frasier and Johnson LLC have introduced Chantz N. Martin as a new associate. Martin was admitted to the Kansas Bar in September 2011. He is a graduate of the Washburn University School of Law. He is originally from Elkhart, KS and along with his wife Amber is currently residing in Beloit. He is the son-in-law of Joe and Donna Schmitt.
8-Man All Stars Football Rally
The 27th Annual Kansas 8-Man All-Star Football Games are scheduled for Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Trojan Field in Beloit, KS, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Pep Rally & Feed for the teams on Thursday evening, June 7, between 4 - 6 p.m., in downtown Beloit.
All 80 players plus coaches will be downtown signing autographs. They will also be treated to a free meal. There will be kid's games including a jump-house, football toss, and more.
The Chamber has asked the Downtown businesses to decorate outside their businesses with the 8-man team colors, which are GREEN, GOLD, RED, AND BLUE.

Moran Staffer in Beloit
A member of Senator Jerry Moran's staff will be in Beloit to hold an open office from 8:30 to 9:30 AM on May 24th. They will be available to meet with area residents in the County Commissioners room at the Mitchell County Courthouse.
Anyone experiencing difficulties with Social Security, Medicare, Veterans Affairs or have other concerns regarding federal issues is welcome to visit with Senator Moran's staff. For more information call Senator Moran's office in Hays at 785 628-6401.
BAK Rolling Through in June
The annual Bike Across Kansas rally will be rolling through Mitchell County in June. The Bike Tour will cross the state June 9th through the 16th covering a total of 475 miles. The group of nearly 900 bicyclists will ride from Downs to Clyde on June 13th.
Beloit has been designated as one of the official "Lunch Stops". Some of the riders will begin to arrive in Beloit as early as 9:00 AM and some as late as 2:00 PM.
Businesses and residents are encouraged to welcome the BAK participants and their families when they arrive on June 13th.
