Arthur Duane Smith, 88, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2012 at this home in Athol, Kansas.
Arthur was born on August 8, 1924 in rural Smith County, the son of Edward G. and Neva M. (Beach) Smith. On August 14, 1948 he married Betty Panter in Smith Center, KS. He was a WWII Navy Veteran.
He is survived by his wife Betty of the home, two sons, Dail (Kathy) Smith of Clay Center, KS, Stanley (Kim) Smith of Smith Center; a daughter-in-law, Deb Smith of Smith Center; a sister, Ilene (Millard) Voorhees of Smith Center; a brother, Bennie Smith of Smith Center; a brother-in-law, Dee Panter (Roseanne) of Elkhart, KS; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Terry Lynn and Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the All Faiths Funeral Chapel, Smith Center, KS, with Pastor Melody Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. until service time at the chapel. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Athol, KS with military rites.
