Bernice Elizabeth Landis, the daughter of Carl Schroeder and Emile (Peters) Schroeder, was born May 20, 1917 at Morrowville, KS and passed away on May 9, 2013 at the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 19 days.
Bernice grew up in Haddam, KS, graduating from Haddam High School. On March 24, 1940 at Morrowville, KS, she was united in marriage to H. Keith Landis.
Bernice lived in the Haddam community most of all of her life. She was a farm wife, and worked at the Haddam Café for many years as a cook.
Bernice was active in club activities in Haddam and enjoyed gardening, raising chickens, quilting, cooking, and liked to play cards with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband H. Keith Landis,
Brothers: Ernest Schroeder, Ralph Schroeder, Marion Schroeder, Bill Schroeder, and infant brother, Duane; Sisters: Gertrude Mayer, Helen Slater, and Maxine Schroeder.
Bernice is survived by two brothers: Victor Schroeder of Derby, KS and Vern Schroeder of Valparaiso, Indiana; nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at ELEVEN AM, Monday, May 13, 2013 at the
Haddam United Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Jellison-Knock, officiating.
Interment will be at the Haddam Cemetery, Haddam, KS.
Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Sunday at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, and after 10 AM Monday at the Church in Haddam.
