Aaron Beam, a senior at Beloit High is a one man team this year with support from the auto II class members at NCK Tech. Aaron is taking courses in Automotive Technology at NCK Tech this year and as part of that program he is driving the programs electric race car. This fall Aaron has competed in a race at Hays on September 26th and at Hanston KS on Oct. 5th. At Hays Aaron raced in the second race and knew he had to complete more than the 66 laps completed by the Hoisington team in the first race of the day. Aaron completed 69 laps in the allotted 60 minutes. The Beloit High car won first place in the standard division with Hoisington earning second and Scott City High earning third place.
On Oct 5th Aaron competed in the Hodgeman County race in Hanston KS. On a cold and windy Saturday morning Aaron again entered in the second race of the day. Scott City had set a new track distance record during the morning race of 107 laps breaking Beloit Highs record of 101 laps from last year's race. Aaron stepped up to the challenge and completed 110 laps in the hour long endurance race. Beloit High finished in first, Scott City in Second and Hays High earned third place. Aaron is very comfortable in the car because this is his second year to race in it. He knows how to run consistent laps to conserve the battery.
The series will stop racing during the winter months and will start the spring KS High School racing series on April 17th with a race at NCK Tech in Beloit. The Beloit High Team will also be racing in the Nebraska Power Drive Series in the spring of 2014.
