Farmway Coop acquires Republic County assets from Hansen-Mueller

Farmway Coop, Inc. announced today that it has purchased the grain assets of Hansen-Mueller in Belleville, Scandia and Courtland, owned by Jack Hansen from Omaha, Neb. The transaction was finalized March 31, 2014.

The agreement involves the purchase of five grain facilities in Belleville, Scandia and Courtland with a combined grain storage capacity of 7,453,000 bushels. Farmway plans to improve speed and space at the three Hansen-Mueller locations.

"The addition of the grain elevators in those three communities is consistent with our strategy of expanding our footprint and offerings to the members we serve," said Art Duerksen, CEO of Farmway. "We are excited to bring a cooperative grain elevator business back to the communities and look forward to growing the strong relationships we currently have with our farmer-owners that have been using our agronomy and energy products in the past and starting lasting relationships with new customers as well."

Employees from Hansen-Mueller will join the Farmway team in their respective roles.
