Medicare Basics Workshop Slated for Tues., Aug. 13, in Beloit

If you'll soon be getting Medicare, or just want to know more about Medicare, you have a special opportunity on Tuesday, Aug. 13, in Beloit to get answers to your questions and learn what you need to know to navigate the Medicare maze.
The Answers for Older Kansans (AOK) Medicare Basics workshop sponsored by the North Central-Flint Hills Area Agency on Aging (NC-FH AAA), will provide unbiased, easy-to-understand information for anyone interested in learning more about the Medicare. The workshop is geared to those who are nearing age 65, those soon to qualify because of a disability and Kansans who are helping family members with insurance and financial matters.
The Beloit AOK Medicare Basics workshop will happen Tues., Aug. 13, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Beloit Senior Center, 220 N. Hersey, Beloit. While there is no cost to attend, advance registration is advised.
Karen Mayse, supervisor of NC-FH AAA's Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program, will cover Medicare eligibility, how and when to apply, what is covered by the various parts, and how to fill the gaps. Counselors will also explain programs available to assist low income individuals and how to watch out for Medicare fraud.
"Those who have attended these Area Agency on Aging workshops give us high ratings and tell us that they've gotten answers to their questions about Medicare." said Julie Govert Walter, NC-FH AAA Executive Director. "We are delighted to be bringing this workshop to Beloit," she said.
To register, call the Area Agency on Aging toll-free at 800-432-2703 or 785-776-9294 or send an email to karenm@ncfhaaa.com.
