Charles Favinger, Age 84

Charles Leonard Favinger, 84 of Smith Center, KS passed away Thursday January 22, 2015. He was born January 9, 1931 in Cowles, NE to Sylvester and Inez (Kelling) Favinger. Leonard and Rachel were happily married for 62 years. Leonard worked 26 years at the Smith County Co-Op and 23 for Smith County. After Leonard retired, you could always find him in the garage with his grandkids or mowing lawns. Leonard was the one who always had a joke up his sleeve and could make everyone laugh. In his later years Leonard enjoyed just spending quality time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. Leonard and his wife Rachel spent many quality hours together sewing for Newborns in Need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, his in-laws, a sister in-law, and two brother in-laws.
He is survived by his wife Rachel, his children June and (Dennis) McElderry of Springfield, MO, Donna Favinger of Smith Center, Mitch and (Yvon) Favinger of Smith Center, Jeri Duntz of Wichita, Mike and (DeeAnn) Favinger of Wichita, 7 Grandchildren and 7 Great-Grandchildren with another on the way in August.
A private burial will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Leonard Favinger memorial fund and can be sent in care of the Simmons-Rentschler Mortuary 116 W. 1st St. Smith Center, KS 66967.
