Bill Burchie, Age 83

Bill Bruchie, the son of James W. Bruchie and Zula (Morrish) Bruchie, was born June 9, 1931 at Liberal, KS and passed away on Feb. 5, 2015 at Republic County Hospital, Belleville, KS at the age of 83 years, 7 months, and 26 days.
Bill grew up in Liberal, KS, graduating from Liberal High School in 1949. He joined the U. S. Air Force and served as an aircraft technician during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Liberal where he worked for Duckwall's. He then worked for Duckwall's in Pueblo, CO and later came to Belleville, KS in 1961 to manage the local Duckwall's store. In 1967, he moved to La Cross, KS where he owned and operated Bruchie Fine Furniture until 1972. He then worked for T G & Y Stores in the Wichita, KS area and in South Carolina until moving to the Belleville area in 1978, living at the Frasier farmhouse and later in 1994 moving to town.
In September of 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary M. (Fraser) Shinn and she preceded him in death on Oct. 10, 2010.
Bill was a member of the Central Christian Church, and the Kiwanis Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; one brother James Bruchie, and one step-son, Bob Shinn.
Bill is survived by one step-son, Norm Shinn of Belleville, KS; two nephews, David Bruchie of Alaska, and Tom Bruchie of Mexico; one niece, Julie Grubbs of Austin, TX; three step-grandchildren, Andrew (Monica) Shinn of Des Moines, IA, Erica (Rob) Barker of Kansas City, KS and Kara Gilbert of Wichita, KS; 3 step great grandchildren, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015 at the Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3PM until 9PM on Thursday, and from 9AM until 9PM on Friday at the funeral home.
