Caroline Anderson, Age 90

Caroline Margaret Anderson, the daughter of August and Annie (Viau) Polcen, was born on March 17, 1924 in Escanaba, Michigan. She passed away on February 8, 2015 at the home of her daughter in Hemet, California at the age of 90 years, 10 months, 22 days.

Carrie was born and raised in Escanaba, and moved to Appleton, Wisconsin in 1927 where she was educated thru the eighth grade at St. Theresa's Catholic School in Appleton, Wisconsin.

She was married on August 10, 1944 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin to Lester Edwin Anderson; this union was blessed with 4 children. While living in Wisconsin during World War II, Carrie worked in a shipyard as a welder.

In 1957 they moved to California, where she worked in a dry cleaning business and a saw sharpening shop. After retiring they moved to Republic, Kansas, they owned/operated the Republic Grocery store and Republic Café until her husband's death.

Carrie was a member of a Bunco Club in California, Art guild in Courtland, Kansas and was a volunteer for Hospice in Republic County. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, gardening and ceramics in which she had her own kiln.

Carrie moved to Hemet, California to be by her daughter, Linda.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Lester on January 17, 1994; 5 sisters Nellie, Esther, Hazel, Mae and Florence and one brother Charles Polcen. She is survived by her children Karen Parker and husband Bently of Republic, Kansas, Ronald Anderson and wife Sharon of Anaheim, California, Barbara Dwyer of Oxnard, California, and Linda Klos of Hemet, California; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
