Cliffton Stoner, Age 88

Clifton "Cliff" Stoner, age 88, died Thurs., March 12, 2015 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. He was born on June 28, 1926 in Aurora, KS to Clifton S. & Elsie (Bates) Stoner.

Known to many as "Junior" in his early years, Cliff graduated from Concordia High School and later Kansas State University with a bachelor's degree in Business. He served as a Seaman First Class on the USS Davidson in the US Navy during WWII. Cliff was a department manager at Cornhusker Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, NE. For many year he was a salesman until suffering a stroke, but that never broke his courageous spirit and positive outlook to living each day. Cliff resided in Longmont, CO until his return to Concordia, where he was a member of the American Legion Post #76. Cliff was an excellent harmonica player and enjoyed playing in the ‘Lost Chords', a Senior Citizen's Band in Concordia. Cliff also had enjoyed attending the Talk of the Month Club on a regular basis for several years.

He is survived by his son, Dennis Stoner (Debbie), Three Forks, MT; daughter, Dawn Olson, Berthoud, CO; sisters, Leona Brown, Concordia & Louise Armstrong, Victorville, CA; brothers, Cecil Stoner (Betty) & Clarence Stoner, both of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren, Brady Olson, Sioux Falls, SD & Jamie Olson, Berthoud, CO & numerous nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dale & Harold Stoner & son in law, Jim Olson

It was Cliff's wishes to be cremated. A Service of Remembrance will be at 10:30 am, Mon. March 16, 2015 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village Chapel, Concordia. Burial of the cremains will follow the services at the Bethel Cemetery, South of Concordia. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to American Legion Post #76 in care of the funeral home. Online condolences can be found at www.chaputboy.com
