Virgil Kump, Age 90

Virgil R. Kump, the son of George Harrison Kump and Ruth Esther (Whitzel) Kump, was born August 13, 1924 at Jennings, KS and passed away on March 26, 2015 the Belleville Health Care Center, Belleville, KS at the age of 90 years, 7 months, and 13 days.
Virgil was a long time resident of Decatur County Kansas. He graduated from Jennings High School, Jennings, KS in 1943. He served with the U.S. Army during W.W. II.
After his honorable discharge, he married his pen pal and sweetheart from Alabama, Anne E. Miller on August 10, 1946. The couple settled on a farm north west of Jennings, KS. They had three daughters: Judy, Karin, and Pamela and she preceded him in death. On Nov. 24, 1990, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Dake of Chester, NE. They moved to Belleville, KS and with this union he became father, grandfather, and great grandfather to many. She preceded him in death on July 1, 2014.
Virgil was a long time farmer and a member of the Jennings United Methodist Church. He served on various township and farm boards. He was a member of the Jennings American Legion, serving as commander several times through the years. He was a committed member of Gideon's International, and a member of the Faith Baptist Church, Concordia, KS.
Virgil was preceded in death by his wife Anne, and wife Dorothy, and one grandchild.
He is survived by three daughters: Judy Michaud of Holton, Maine; Karin Stayer of Sapulpa, OK and Pamela Clothier of Sylvia, KS; four grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 9:30 AM Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Bachelor-Surber Memorial Chapel, Belleville, KS with Pastor Rex Fuller, officiating.
Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday at the Jennings Cemetery, Jennings, KS, with military rites by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
Visitation from One PM until 9 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
