Frederick H Grueber, the son of Walter and Anna ( Mohrman) Grueber, was born in a farmhouse on December 13, 1926 south of Byron, Nebraska in Republic County Kansas. He passed away on April 23, 2015 at the Rosebrook Care Center, in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, 4 months, 10 days. Fritz attended school in Byron, graduating from Byron High School. He was a veteran of WWII and served on the USS Lexington in the pacific Theatre. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. He was an excellent handyman. He worked well with metal or wood. His cedar chests were a big attraction of the Carol Joy Holling annual quilt auction. He served on the school board of the Highland District #66 schools and was Mayor Fritz of the Carol Joy Holling Lutheran Camp. He was united in marriage to Ruth Janet Green on April 16, 1952. This union was blessed with 4 children. Fritz was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruth on May 17, 1991; and a brother Gene and sister-in-law Virginia. Survivors include his sons Brian and wife Sharon, and Clark all of Nelson, Nebraska, Paul and wife Ibeeth from Carbon Cliff, Illinois and daughter Anne Anderson and husband Boyd of York, Nebraska; 8 grandchildren Laurel and husband Kevin, Bill, Karl and wife Roni, Ahren, Gabriela, Adam, Hannah and Sarah; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be at Bethany Lutheran Church, Ruskin, Nebraska on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Pastor Ethan Fiestner will be officiating. Burial will be in Spring Creek Cemetery, Ruskin, Nebraska. Memorials may go to the Carol Joy Holling Lutheran Camp and online condolences can be left at www.pricefuneralhomes.com Visitation will be from 11:00 am-8:00 pm on Wednesday at the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home, 446 South Main St., Nelson, Nebraska 68961 (Phone 402-225-3301).
