Ila Mae McCarthy, the daughter of John and Elsie (Haecker) Osbourne, was born on February 26, 1926 near Montrose, Kansas. She passed away on May 2, 2015 at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 2 months, 6 days.

Ila Mae grew up with an older brother, Clare, in rural Jewell County. She attended Pevonia, Sweet Hill, Lovewell, and Hardy schools. When Ila left home, she lived in a number of large U.S. cities often working in the restaurant business. In 1969 she married Raymond T. McCarthy. They eventually settled in Denver where she ran their tavern business and severed homemade soups and sandwiches. Later she started a small business call "Grandma's Goodies" preparing delicious homemade sandwiches and treats to lunch time clients at the Denver Tech Center. Ila then became a caregiver for Home Instead Senior Care. Two years ago she moved to Superior to be closer to family. As her health declined, Linda Hutchinson became Ila's caregiver; took her to appointments and assisted Ila at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and sister-in-law Geraldine, and in 1995 husband Raymond.

She is survived by her son Donald G. Dunn and wife Ardythe of Deshler, granddaughters Melanie (Ryan) Mikkelsen of Ruskin, Marcia (Ted) Ehlers of Nelson, Tanya (Brandon) Lynch of Hickman, and three great-grandchildren Chase and Nash Ehlers and Cannon Lynch, other relatives, and friends.
