Kandi Martin, Age 45

Kandi Kae Martin, age 45 passed from this life May 18, 2015 from a sudden and unexpected illness. She was born May 15, 1970 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.

Kandi was a 1988 graduate of Riverton High School. She graduated Coffeyville Community College and attended Washburn University. She obtained her RN degree from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 2009. A level 1 traveling trauma nurse and long-time resident of both Spring Hill and Smith Center, Kandi had an extensive number of friends throughout the state and was a distinguished professional.

Kandi was much-loved and will be missed by her husband Rocky. They had been together for 30 years, Rocky & Kandi were married January 11, 1992. They had 2 children, a son Caleb and a young daughter KaeLee Jade.

Kandi was preceded in death by her mother Rosemary Hawley and an infant grandson Cash Dewayne.

She is survived by her husband Rocky of the home; her daughter KaeLee of the home; her son Caleb and future daughter-in-law Rikki; her father David Edwards and wife Carolyn of Oswego, KS; a brother Randy McDaniel and wife Kim of Oxford, FL; 4 sisters, Rhonda McDaniel of Joplin, MO, Renee Stockton and husband Rick of Joplin, MO, Dianna Atkins and husband Rick of Arma, KS, and Tammie Benham and husband Charlie of Pittsburg, KS; many nieces and nephews and extended family throughout the country.

Kandi's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2PM on May 30, 2015 in Riverton, KS.

The family has set up an account for her children's education and strongly suggests memorial contributions be made instead of sending flowers.
