Edward Nech, Age 93

Edward R. "Bud" Nech of Kensington, Ks. passed away on Tues. Aug. 18, 2015 at Parkview Care Center in Osborne, Ks. Bud was born on a farm near Edmond, Ks. to Ralph and Matilda (Rostocil) Nech on Jan. 18, 1922. He grew up in the Woodston, Ks. area and graduated from Woodston High School. He joined the Army Air Corp in WWII and was a Flight Engineer on B-24 bombers. His plane was shot down during a mission and he was wounded and captured by the Germans and sent 19 months as a POW. After the war, he married Rosalee Terrell of Alton, Ks. and they celebrated 69 years of marriage. To this union were born four children; Terry, Larry, Bruce and Susan.

He was manager and then later owner of the Kensington Lumber Co. in Kensington, Ks. After selling the lumberyard he owned and operated Nech Trash Service, also of Kensington. He enjoyed gardening, his small farm and going to and working on his cabin in Pitkin, Colo. which he and Rosalee established in the early 1960's. He also greatly enjoyed following the antics of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He greatly valued education and he and Rosalee made sure that all four children had college degrees. He supported whatever occupation his family members chose to do, but he was especially proud of the fact that 9 family members were educatiors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Agnes Gager and brother Clarence and son Larry. He is survived by his wife Rosalee of Parkview Care Center in Osborne, son Terry (Melissa) of Hoisington, daughter-in-law Joan Nech of Kensington, son Bruce (Deanna) of Kensington, daughter Susan (Mike) Young of Holyrood; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
