Clay Center, Kan. - Twin Valley Telephone and CCARE have announced the details of their third annual color race to be held in Clay Center, Kan. on April 2, 2016, at 11:00 am at the Clay Center Community Middle School.

A color race is a fun, un-timed 5K race in which runners and walkers are covered head to toe with powdered color at each kilometer. In the spirit of CCARE, dogs are welcomed to be part of the race as well. Last year's race, held in March, brought in more than 500 participants to the Clay Center area, and raised more nearly $13,000 for the cause.

2015 was a very busy year for CCARE, beginning with the attaining of their 501©3. The group started renovating the building at 109 S. 4th St., in February. Using hundreds of volunteer hours, they have worked tirelessly to keep renovation costs at a minimum.

"We are so excited to move on to the next step of open doors in 2016! Being able to help our community and Clay County with their stray dog populations will be a benefit for so many, for both our four-legged and two-legged friends," said Janel Michaud, CCARE Board President. "We are eternally grateful for the businesses, citizens and the entire Clay County community and all they have done for our cause. It has truly been a labor of love for those of us on the CCARE board."

Twin Valley has been and will again be the event title sponsor, covering the costs of producing a race of this magnitude, as well as all marketing initiatives. The CCARE group is seeking local business sponsorships to offset the cost of participant T-Shirts for the event. If you or your business has any interest in being a 2016 sponsor of the Color Race, contact Shaley Johnson at sjohnson@tvtinc.net or 785.477.3591.
