Minnie Wiese, Age 99

Minnie Marie Wiese passed away on May 19, 2016 at the age of 99 at the Salina Regional Hospital. Minnie Marie was born on October 9, 1916 to Wilhelm A. & Razmina A. (Wilbeck) Zemke on a farm near Blue Hill, KS. She was the second child of 3.

Minnie was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church of Tipton, KS. She got her formal education at the Blue Hill District 40 grade school. Minnie learned how to cook, garden, can foods & sew. Minnie also helped her dad farm by plowing, tilling & harvesting, as well as running a steel wheeled Case tractor.

Minnie married Amil H. Wiese at her parents' home on Feb. 16, 1938. There were 5 children born to this union.

After the children were grown, Minnie got her GED, became a CNA & worked at the Osborne County Hospital. She worked at various nursing homes as well. Minnie did a lot of volunteer work with her church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Mitchell County Hospital Gift Shop, Solomon Valley Hospice, to name a few.

Minnie & Amil liked to travel. After he died in June of 1985, she continued to travel. She visited all 50 states, as well as Canada, Mexico & Japan.

Minnie is survived by her 5 children: Jerry M. Wiese, Salina, KS; Neva (Ted) Trujillo Wiese, Santa Fe, NM; Fred L. Wiese, Stanley, KS; Loretta (Dean) Durow, Gardner, KS; Bill D. (Beverly) Wiese, Hunter, KS; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; & 2 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Amil H. Wiese; infant sister, Millie Augusta & younger sister, Annabelle Wiles; daughters in law, Laverne Wiese & Emma Wiese; 3 great grandchildren.
