William Dunphy, Age 82

William W. Dunphy, age 82, left his earthly home on Sun., May 29, 2016 at Via Christi Village, Manhattan, KS. He was born on Aug. 2, 1933 in Clyde, KS to Walter & Elva (LeSage) Dunphy.

He attended school at St. Ann's in Clyde before attending and graduating from Conception Seminary in Missouri. He served as a nursing home administrator for nursing homes in Clifton, KS; Techemah, NE & Glasco, KS. He later served for several years as a Chaplain for Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan. He also was a columnist for the Blade Empire and author of the books "In the Meantime" & Snoopers Tale". He married Emma Dallen on June 17, 1989 in Concordia. He enjoyed creative writing and giving ‘funspirational' Peanuts talks. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Manhattan.

He is survived by his wife, Emma Dunphy, Manhattan; step daughters, Teresa Benyshek (Phillip Ebel), Manhattan & Cathy O'Rourke, Longmont, CO; step grandchildren, Cody Benyshek & Lily Ebel, Manhattan; sister, Eloise Spurgeon, Wichita & brother in law, Eldon "Ike" Bergstrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents & 4 sisters, Catherine Marcotte, Mary Anne Jacob, Rita L'Ecuyer & Gertrude Bergstrom.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Fri., June 3, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde. Visitation will be from 9 am to 9 pm, Thurs., June 2, 2016 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family will have a Rosary at 9:30 am, Fri. at the church prior to the services.
