Marilyn Dobratz, Age 87

Marilyn Dobratz was born June 9, 1929 in Salina, Kansas, the daughter of Edward Henry and Mary Elizabeth Schwarz Jilka. She passed away Friday morning, June 10, 2016 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas at the age of 87 years.

Marilyn graduated from Sacred Heart High School in the Class of 1947, attended St. Mary College, Leavenworth, and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Dietetics and Institutional Management in 1951. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority.

On May 29, 1951 she was united in marriage to Robert Dobratz at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. They celebrated 65 years of marriage together. Seven children Steve, Mickey, Larry, Rose, Carolyn, Linda, and David were born to this union. They made their home in Beloit for many years.

Marilyn was a devoted mother and grandmother. Attending the innumerable games and concerts of her children and grandchildren was a great joy to her. She also enjoyed crossword puzzles, bridge, and traveling with her husband. Bob and Marilyn frequently traveled to destinations both in the United States and abroad. She was an avid K-State fan; she and Bob loved to attend both home and away football games to cheer on her beloved Wildcats.

Marilyn was a homemaker and active in many organizations. She was a member of St. John's Ladies Guild, Chapter K P.E.O. sisterhood, Euterpe Club, Mitchell County Association of Retarded Citizens, Serra Club of Topeka, St. John's Catholic Church, Beloit and Christ the King Catholic Church of Topeka.

She was preceded in death by a son Larry in 2013, her parents, and brother Laurence Jilka.

Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her life are her husband Dr. Robert A. Dobratz; six children Steve (Kim) of Great Bend, KS, Mickey (Susan) of Leawood, KS, Rose (Mike) Lott of Topeka, KS, Carolyn (Jay) Ditsworth of Roanoke, TX, Linda (Phil) Wedge of Lawrence, KS; Dr. David Dobratz (Wendy), of Olathe, KS; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; one brother Bernard Jilka of Salina; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church with burial following in St. John's Cemetery. The Parish Vigil and Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Monday at the McDonald Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. Monday until the Parish Vigil begins. Memorials may be given to St. John's Catholic Church, Beloit or Christ the King Catholic Church of Topeka.
