Dloyd Joseph Strnad passed away Sunday, June 12, 2016 in Leoti, Kansas at the age of 75 years. He was born in Altamont, Kansas on June 13, 1940 to the late Dr. Joseph L. and Emma (Jehlik) Strnad. Dloyd was baptized on September 1, 1940 by Rev. Amos Rundus at the Munden Czech Presbyterian Church along with his mother, sister, and grandmother Strnad. This church has been a foundation of faith for the Strnad family as his great grandfather, Josef Strnad and Wesley Rundus were the two patriarchs of the Reformed Czech-Moravian Brethren Church in the Tabor community. His grandfather Joseph R. Strnad built the wooden pulpit which is still used today. Dloyd was proud of his Czech heritage and even learned to speak the language early in his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Cuba High School and started his career of farming and custom harvesting which lasted over fifty years. His custom harvesting took him from southwest Oklahoma to North Dakota following the amber waves of grain and making life long friends all along the way. He passed this passion on to his children as all are involved in agriculture. Dloyd joined the Belleville 12th Ordinance Company of the Army National Guard on May 2, 1961 and was called up for active duty from September 1961 through August 1962 during the Cuban Missile crisis. On May 1, 1967 at the rank of Specialist Grade E-5, he was honorably discharged. Dloyd and Linda Kay Krummel were married at the Belleville First United Methodist Church on June 21, 1964. Their first home was in Courtland, Kansas then moving to their farm home near Formoso. . He was a member of the Formoso Community Church, Belleville Masonic Lodge, Salina Isis Shrine, Order of Eastern Star, and the Topless Travelers, and Republic county Czech Club. Dloyd did not know a stranger. In his later years he enjoyed calling and being with his friends. He had childhood friends he called brothers and others were his "Golden Girl Friends" of Cuba. He often recited a birthday poem that his father had said, ‘Many happy returns to the day of thy birth. May sunshine and gladness be given and may the dear Heavenly Father prepare thee on earth for a beautiful birthday in Heaven!' Dloyd's last wish was "take me to the field." He loved wheat harvest and the day after his death, he celebrated his 76th birthday in heaven. Dloyd had a strong work ethic that was passed on to his children and employees. He taught them what he knew and encouraged them to achieve more in life. He dearly loved his children and was proud of their accomplishments. Papa had a smile on his face and a sparkle in those beautiful blue eyes for his precious grandchildren. Celebrating Dloyd's life are his wife of 51 years Linda; children: Troy DeLyn and wife Julia, Wellington, KS, Terrill Dloyd and wife Sarah, Formoso, KS, Darla Jean Lewis and husband Russ, Leoti, KS; grandchildren: Samantha Lyn, Trey Daniel, Emma Ann, Wyatt Carl, Dalton Joseph, and Colt Westin; sister Evonne Noel; nieces Denise Braun and Tammy Anwar; nephew Scott Garman; brother-in-law Kent Krummel; and a host of family and friends.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2016 at the Formoso Community Church with Pastor Lance Rundus officiating. Family inurnment will be at a later date. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, assisted Dloyd's family with these arrangements.
