Janet Kay Bauer, the adopted daughter of Joseph and Geraldine (Compton) Stenner, was born on September 5, 1941 in Muscatine, Iowa. She passed away on November 18, 2016 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 75 years, 2 months, 13 days.

Janet was a graduate from Glenbard High School in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Upon graduating she furthered her education by earning her Business degree from Freman Business College in Oak Park, Illinois. Janet was a 10 year member of the Parkside Berean Church in Ainsworth, Nebraska.

On July 16, 1986, Janet was united in marriage to Joseph Virgil Bauer. During Janet's lifetime she lived in several communities including Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Estes Park, Colorado, Sterling, Colorado, Mitchell, Nebraska, Springview, Nebraska, Yoder, Wyoming, Fairfield, Nebraska and presently living in Hardy, Nebraska.

Her employment throughout the years was working in various greenhouses and grocery stores and she also was employed at Harvard Nursing Home. Janet was a true pioneer; she loved the outdoors, including hunting, fishing, gardening and canning the produce. She loved the land while living on a ranch in Springview, Nebraska and the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Her love for all animals, birds and dogs especially her dog "Snuggy," She was a fantastic cook, and could prepare whole pork and beef barbeques for large events.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Joe of Rural Hardy, Nebraska; step children: Fonda Franklin and husband Dennis of Paul, Idaho, Virgil Bauer and wife Jutta of Vilseck, Germany, Tim Bauer of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, Randy Bauer of Paul, Idaho, Dee Dee Bennett and husband Dan of Gering, Nebraska and Jason Bauer and wife Diane of Round Rock, Texas; one sister JoAnn McKinley of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 10 step grandchildren and 9 step great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.

Private Family services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society c/o Joseph Bauer 4836 Road C, Hardy, NE 68943.
