Beloit, KS, Jan. 5 - The 2017 New Year's Baby made her arrival Thursday, January 5th at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems. Emilia Monroe came into the world representing the New Year's rebirth and receiving a few gifts of her own.

Members of the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation and Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems presented Emilia, her parents Marisa and Joseph and big sister a basket full of New Year's gifts from surrounding community businesses.

The Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation along with MCHHS has committed over the last seven years to bring back this tradition from the past and make it new and is thankful to the community who is so generous in donating to the project.

The gift basket included: a $300 Educational CD that was put in Emilia's name, many gift certificates, diapers, baby gifts and many wonderful hand created baby blankets and accessories by local citizens.

"The Foundation is honored to have revived this tradition and so thankful to all the community members that helped us recognize Emilia and her family," said Stephanie Simmons, Executive Director of the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation.

Contributions ranged from monetary donations towards the Educational CD to baby gifts and gift certificates. Participating donors included: Beloit Medical Center PA, Boettcher Supply, Georgette Stover, Fouts Insurance, Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems, The Guaranty State Bank, S&S Drug, Schnell & Pestinger, Solomon Valley Cinema and Zachary's Ace Hardware.

"We look forward to celebrating this tradition every year and letting everyone in our surrounding communities share in the New Year's baby fun," said Simmons.

The tradition will continue with the MCRMF coordinating the yearly event. To be a part of this event or to learn more about other Foundation programs contact MCRMF at (785) 738-9493 or by e-mail at ssimmons@mchks.com.
