Fred Currie, Age 79

Fred Dick Currie, age 79 of Scandia, Kansas, son of Fred and Margaret (Freed) Currie was born in Concordia, Kansas on August 12, 1937. He went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

Dick married Linda Lu Howard on May 27, 1972. He worked many years at Santa Fe Railroad, Topeka, Kansas, and after retiring moved to Scandia, Kansas. Dick enjoyed playing pitch as well as many outdoor activities including: rodeos, roping, fishing, hunting and camping. He also spent many years harvesting for local farmers.

Dick is survived by his children: Randall Currie & Stacie Mitchell (Carbondale), Gregory & Linda K. Currie (Topeka), Angelee & Kurt Grimmett (Meriden) and Kellie & John Graves (Sapulpa, OK); Stepchildren: Luanne Colhouer & Rick Haas (Holton), LaDene Currie (Hot Springs, SD), and Daryl Goodnow (Meriden). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, his brother Allen and Linda Currie (Ord, NE) and many other relatives and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his wife Linda, his parents and grandson Zachary Currie.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Sat., Jan 28, 2017 at the United Methodist Church, Scandia, Kansas with Pastor Kathy Aeillo officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Scandia. Memorials may be made to F. Dick Currie Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home. Tibbetts-Fischer Funeral Home, Belleville, Kansas, was in charge of these arrangements.
