Sister Christine Doman died March 17, at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS. She was 79 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 60 years. She was born in Grand Junction, CO on January 9, 1938 to Paul and Hazel Williams Doman, the younger of two children, and was baptized Barbara Jene. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on September 9, 1956. On March 19, 1957, Barbara received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Christine. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1958 and final vows on March, 1961.

Sister Christine received a BA degree in history from Marymount College in 1967 and a MS in education from Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS in 1968. She taught in schools in Grand Island, NE; Junction City, Oakley and Salina, KS, serving as principal of the Sacred Heart Elementary/Junior High School beginning in 1981 for ten years. Also, Sister Christine held the position of Director of Educational Planning for the Diocese of Salina from 1972-1981. In 1991 S. Christine was elected to the Executive Council for the Congregation and was elected as President in 1995. In 1999 she resumed her teaching career in Highland, CA. Throughout the years she has remained faithful to helping the Vietnam refugees. In 2008 she retired from teaching and served as Volunteer Coordinator for the Congregation in El Paso, TX. In 2014 she moved to the Motherhouse because of ill health.

Sister Christine was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Doman.

A Bible Vigil Service will be held March 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Auditorium with Sister Marcia Allen as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be March 20 at 4:00 p.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Father James Dallen presiding. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery. Nutter Mortuary, 116 E. 6th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.
