C. L. Adams, Age 81

C. L. Adams, 81, of rural Cuba, KS, the son of Daymon Edward Adams and Viola Pearl (Day) Adams, was born October 28, 1935 in Callao, MO and passed away on May 16, 2017 in rural Cuba, KS.C. L. grew up in Macon, Missouri where attended county rural schools and later graduated from Bevier High School, Bevier, MO. Following his graduation, he began work with the Burlington Northern Railroad in Bevier and later transferred to Chicago, IL, where he worked for the railroad for several years. He then attended trade school in Chicago and trained as a mechanic. C. L. returned to Bevier and work as a mechanic for Sutton Ford for several years and then moved to the Kansas City area where he also did mechanic work.On September 12, 1981, he was united in marriage to Naomi Applegate in Kansas City, Missouri. The couple moved to the Cuba, KS area in 1993. C. L. did part time maintenance work at the Belvilla and for the past several years did maintenance work with the City of Cuba. He also cleaned part time.C.L. enjoyed working outdoors, planting garden for family and friends and making things in his shop for grandchildren and family. He was a member of the Cuba Presbyterian Church, serving several years as an Elder. C.L. was involved in the Cuba community through the Cuba Booster Club and always willing to help on any project. He enjoyed fishing, collecting antique glassware, and going to antique shows. C.L. loved his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers, Edward and Ronnie, and one infant sister, Nancy.

C.L. is survived by his wife, Naomi Adams of rural Cuba, KS; children, Rhonda Leffkowitz of Kansas City, Missouri, Scott (Rita) Adams of Macon, Missouri, Karla (Jon) Danielson of rural Clyde, KS, and Kerry (Tressa) Kalivoda of Concordia, KS; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; one brother Frank Adams of Bevier, Missouri; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the Cuba Presbyterian Church, Cuba, KS. Interment will follow at the National Bohemian (Kopsa) Cemetery. The casket has been closed. Friends may call to sign the book from 1 PM until 8 PM on Monday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS. Memorials are suggested to family choice. Online condolences to www.bachelor-surber.com.
