Carol Trickett, Age 81

Carol Jeanne Trickett was born May 10th, 1936 at Beloit Kansas to Arnol and Sue Hackett. She passed from this life to the next on Friday, January 5th at the age of 81 at Hilltop Lodge in Beloit. Carol grew up on the family farm in the Hopewell community southwest of Beloit. She attended Roundtop Country School and then graduated from Beloit High School in 1954. For 3 years she worked at Guarantee State Bank in Beloit and then she moved to Topeka to take a position as a secretary for the Kansas State Highway Commission. There she met Marvin Brobst. The two were married on September 20th 1958. To this union was born a daughter, Rebecca, and a son, Bryce. Carol and Marvin divorced in 1978. Carol later married Dean Mick then Bill Trickett, both marriages ending in divorce. For several years Carol was a homemaker, raising both of her children. After separating from Marvin, Carol went back into the formal workplace. Carol worked at the Mitchell County Extension Office for a few years and then moved to working for Farmway Coop at their Feed Mill in Beloit. After a few years at the Feed Mill, Carol transferred to the main office of Farmway Coop as the Member Service Specialist. She stayed in this position until she retired. Carol also took some part-time work as an Independent Pampered Chef sales consultant, and as a waitress at James' 24/66 in Beloit. Carol remained active in 4-H with her own kids and then grandkids, serving as a community leader for several years during her children's participation and volunteering wherever needed with her grandchildren. Carol was an active member with the First Baptist Church in Beloit until the church was closed. Carol's happiness came from seeing not only the accomplishments of her children, but of her grandchildren as well. Her final hope was to live long enough to see her youngest grandchild graduate from High School.

Carol is survived by her sister, Kay Melton and husband Ernest of Great Bend, daughter Rebecca Jones and husband Mike of Beloit, and son Bryce Brobst and wife Lora of Hiawatha. Carol's grandkids are Kris Jones and wife Rachel of Beloit, Kaylan Jones of Greensburg, Kyler Jones and wife Maci of Hutchinson, Kaleb Jones of Beloit, Megan Massey of Highland, Lindsy Long and husband Josh of Hiawatha, and Dr. Molly Brobst of Wichita. At the time of her death, Carol also had 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and other family members.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Arnol and Sue Hackett.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Friday, January 12 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home, and there will be no vistation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Mitchell County 4-H or the Bethany Church.
