Virginia Rightmeier, Age 87

Virginia Lee Snyder Rightmeier was born January 30, 1931 to Irl and Louella Binkley Snyder, and passed away February 18, 2018, at Jewell County Hospital ISB at the age of 87 years. She spent the early years of her childhood in the Effingham, KS area, before moving with her family to the Montrose, KS area. She completed her elementary and secondary education in the Montrose schools, and obtained her teaching certificate from Hays, KS following her high school graduation, teaching for 1 year in Montrose. Virginia was united in marriage to Lyle S. Rightmeier on October 21, 1951 at the Montrose Methodist Church. Two children were born to this marriage - Paula (Terry) Cherney, Agenda, KS, and Roger Lyle Rightmeier, Mankato, KS. Virginia was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were both in elementary school before beginning work outside the home - first as a dental assistant, then in clerical capacities in the Mankato area. She was very active in the Mankato area, devoted to church and community participation at the Mankato United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts, VFW Auxiliary, American Red Cross Blood Drives, Mankato Golf Course, Meals on Wheels, and whatever else needed to be done. She was a devoted wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother, a gifted gardener and seamstress, immaculate housekeeper, and wonderful friend.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings - Bud Snyder, June Joslin, Erma Dunstan, Bob Snyder, Glenn Snyder, Don Snyder, Gene Snyder, Olive Intermill, and Leta Adams, and siblings-in- law J.R. Joslin, Edwin Dunstan, Nina Snyder, Barbara Ost Snyder, Barbara Bates Snyder, and Kenneth Adams, and nephew Leroy Snyder.

She is survived by her children, grandchildren - Carrie (Cherney) and David Hahn, Patrick and Chantel Cherney, and Bria Cherney, great-grandchildren - Keller and Ben Hahn, Audrey and Nora Cherney, siblings-in-law - Bonnie Snyder, Barbara Diamond Snyder, Ron Intermill, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Celebration of life services will be held for Lyle and Virginia at the Harmony United Methodist Church at 3PM on Sunday, February 25th, 2018, with Pastor Gerry Sharp officiating. Mrs. Pat Grout served as the organist. Burial to follow church services at Pleasant View Cemetery, Montrose, KS. Friends may sign the register book, Saturday, February 24, 2018, from 1 pm to 7 pm at the mortuary. Melby Mortuary, Mankato, Kansas, in charge of arrangements.
