Marjorie Stafford, Age 93

Marjorie Ilene Carpenter Stafford, 93, passed away on April 5, 2018. She was born September 21, 1924, to Edith Cora (Malstead) and Berton Wesley Carpenter. Marjorie resided at the family farm in Rose Creek Township, Republic County with her parents, and sisters, Vera and LaVeda. She attended Munden Schools. Following high school, Marjorie attended and graduated from Normal Training which allowed her to teach at country schools. She taught at Pleasant Grove District 61 for two years, where she met Dale Samuel Stafford. Dale and Marjorie were married December 22, 1945, unto this union 3 children were born: Patricia Elaine, Dennis Dale, and Roger Harold. She resided at the farm north of Scandia until her death. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Scandia, and she was an active member of the UMW. She was a former member of EHU, and also the Oops and Swipes! card group. Other interests included family, gardening, crocheting, and cooking. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; sister Vera, and grandson Gregory Dale.

Marjorie is survived by her children: Patricia (Steven) Cardwell of Lawrence, KS, Dennis (Sonja) Stafford of Wamego, KS, and Roger (Esther) Stafford of rural Scandia, KS; 5 grandchildren, 13, great-grandchildren; one sister, LeVeda Lane of Salina, KS; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 13, 2018, at the United Methodist Church, Scandia, KS with Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock, officiating. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery, rural Republic, KS. Friends may call from 1 PM until 8 PM on Thursday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, KS where the family will greet friends from 6 PM until 8 PM on Thursday. Memorials are suggested to the Scandia United Methodist Church. Online condolences at www.bachelor-surber.com. Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Scandia, KS is in charge of the arrangements.
