Judith Ann McCammon Pettit, 80

Judith Ann Pettit, the daughter of Lyle and Olive (Robertson) McCammon, was born on May 4, 1938 in Concordia, Kansas. She passed away on Monday, March 18, 2019 at the Good Samaritan Society at Superior, Nebraska at the age of 80 years, 10 months, 14 days.
Judy was baptized on May 21, 1938 at the First Methodist Church, Burr Oak. She graduated from Burr Oak High School in 1956. After high school, Judy attended Fort Hays State, graduating in 1960 with a Registered Nursing Bachelor of Science degree. She was a 60-year member of the First United Methodist Church in Superior, Nebraska. She lived around Burr Oak most of her life, except a short time in Smith Center and a few years in Wichita during the war, while her parents worked at Boeing, building airplanes.
She was united in marriage to Paul Pettit on July 31, 1960 at Burr Oak, Kansas. While Paul was in the service, they lived in El Paso on the army base, he was discharged in January of 1966. Upon leaving El Paso, they loaded up everything in their car and with $75.00 cash, they headed for California. They stopped in Boulder, Colorado, liked it and stayed there. Paul attended Colorado University, and Judy worked in an orthopedic surgeon's office. In 1964, they moved to Red Cloud, and in 1972, they moved to a farm North East of Mankato, Kansas, where she helped with farming and livestock and worked at the Jewell County Hospital and later at the Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska. They moved to Superior in January of 2007. After working 46 years, she retired in March of 2006.
She liked to be outside with animals, and she enjoyed horseback riding. She loved playing the piano and going to dances.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Paul on April 30, 2014.
Survivors include her brother Robert (Marlene) McCammon of Lincoln, Nebraska; nephews Scott (Samantha) McCammon of Atlanta, Georgia; and Chad (Sinead) McCammon of Tampa, Florida; 4 great nieces and nephews; her adopted daughter, Patty Studer and her husband Tony of Superior; granddaughter, Kirsten Isaacson and husband Eric of Belleville, Kansas and great granddaughter Jorgia Isaacson; other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at Megrue-Price Funeral Home, Superior, Nebraska, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00 am. Pastor Natalie Faust will officiate.
Burial will be in Shaffer Cemetery, rural Mankato, Kansas.
Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Society, Superior, NE.
Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 with family present from 6-8 to greet friends.
