Barbara Hutchins, 70

Barbara Jean Hutchins of Nelson, Nebraska, departed to her heavenly home Saturday, June 15, 2019, at Kearney Regional Medical Center, Kearney, Nebraska at age 70 years, 8 months and 21 days.
Barbara "Barb" was born September 24, 1948, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Clark L. and Maude "Jimmie (Wehrman) Drexel. She spent her early years and attended schools in Nelson, Nebraska and Marshalltown, graduating from LDF High School, LeGrand, Iowa, in 1966.
Barb married in 1967 and from this marriage two children were born, Jeff and Lisa. They later divorced. In 2003 Barb met and married her lifetime soulmate, Rodney A. Hutchins, on August 21, 2004, and has shared 15 years of extreme happiness.
Barb's work history included a variety of factory, retail and waitressing until she began her banking career in the 80's in Nevada, Iowa, which she retired from in June of 2012. At that time she and Rod moved to Nelson, purchasing a home originally built by her grandfather.
Barb has always been known for her smile, sweetness, wit and sense of humor. She loved her family dearly and was so proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling immensely and most recently Carnival Cruises.
Upon moving to Nelson, Barb joined Nelson Community United Church of Christ and became an active part of her Church family participating in United Women's Fellowship, U Can Come, Church Board and the Church run Thrift Store.
Barb is survived by her husband Rod of Nelson; daughter Lisa of Eagle Grove, Iowa; grandchildren Ashely and husband Joey Stetz, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Seth and wife Nichelle Williams, Red Cloud, Hannah Resh, Eagle Grove, Iowa; great grandchildren Aryia, Nova and Braxton Stetz and Riley Williams. She is also survived by three siblings Michael and wife Pat Drexel, Nelson, Janice and husband Bob Menzel, Marshalltown, Iowa, Paul and wife Trish Drexel, Lincoln; uncle Henry "Bud" and wife Jackie Wehrman, Nelson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clark and Maude Drexel; son Jeffrey Scott Moore in 2013.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 28, 2019, at 11:00a.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with Pastors Ivan and Joyce Dean officiating.
Private inurnment will take place at Nelson Cemetery at a future date.
In lieu of flowers the family would request that contributions be made in Barb's name to the NCUCC Memorial Fund.
