Elaine Oltmans

Dorris Elaine Oltmans, the daughter of Emil and Stella (Webb) Klawitter, was born on July 31, 1928 in Nelson, Nebraska. She passed away on October 11, 2012 at Rose Brook Care Center in Edgar, Nebraska at the age of 84 years, 2 months, 11 days after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She grew up in Nelson with her parents and four sisters. Elaine was united in marriage to Marvin Oltmans on April 6, 1946 in Belleville, Kansas. The couple moved to a farm north of Nelson where they focused on raising their four children while working the land and raising livestock. This is where Elaine cultivated a love for gardening as well as being on active supporter of the 4-H programs for youth. She also developed a passion for politics and was involved in the State of Nebraska and Nuckolls County Democratic Party.

Marvin and Elaine moved to a new home in Nelson the summer of 1981. During this time she was active in the Nelson City council and loved creating ceramics with many friends and her grandchildren. She worked for a short time at Addie's Doll Fashions in Superior, Nebraska creating porcelain dolls which she shared with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin on February 19, 2004; parents Emil and Stella, two sisters Phyllis Howard and Nadine Smith and a great-granddaughter Harper Grace Oltmans.

Survivors include her daughter Connie and husband Alan of Ravenna, Scott of Nelson, Craig and wife Lana of Holdrege and James (Jim) and wife Terri of Nelson, two sisters Willa (Bill) Morehead of Littleton, CO and Shirley Timm of Blue Hill, sisters-in-law Corrine Good of York, Doris Andersen of Wallace, Lila Oltmans of North Platte and Esther Komp of Joliet, IL along with twelve grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
