Phyllis Wilson, 84, was born May 12, 1928 to John and Nora (Hoard) Russell at Selden, KS. Her siblings consisted of three boys and three girls. Her sister Opal Brandon, is the only surviving sibling. Sometime around 1930, the family moved to Randall, KS where the majority of the familiy resided most of their lives. Phyllis attended Randall grade school and high school and graduated in 1946.
Phyllis was united in marriage on January 12, 1948 to Clyde Wilson Jr., who also came from western Kansas. Early in their married life they both worked at a munitions plant in Hastings, Nebraska. They alsa managed the skating rink in Red Cloud, Nebr, where Junior's parents lived. In the early '50s, Junior joined the U.S. army and was involved in the Korean Conflict. When he was discharged from the service, they became self-employed custom harvesters. They harvested from Lawton, Oklahoma to Jamestown, North Dakota every year until the early 1970s.
Earlier in their lives their marriage was blessed by the adoption of two children-Bill and Barbara. The whole family always worked hard together to make the family endeavors work. The kids both attended Randall grade and high schools. Later on, Bill sired two grandsons. Jeremy and Jerrod are a special part of their lives.
Phyllis enjoyed caring for parents and other elders in Randall. She was always a hard worker and was loved dearly by all. She was a member of Randall United Methodist Church and Randall Senior Citizens.
Phyllis was diagnosed with Alzheimers in 2008. Her husband took care of her in the home as long as he could. She came to Hilltop Lodge on October 4, 2010. She was gone for a period of time and returned to Hilltop on April 27, 2012. Since then, Junior sold their property in Randall and moved to Beloit to be closer to Phyllis. She departed this life, at Hilltop Lodge, on November 12, 2012.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Clyde Jr. Wilson, son William C. Wilson & wife Lee, CaWker City; daughter Barbara Wilson, Cawker City; sister Opal Brandon, Jewell; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, family and a host of friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, Nov. 15th from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Kleppinger Funeral Home, 409 Broadway, Jewell, KS, which is handling arrangements. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm- Friday, Nov. 16th at Randall Community Church, Randall, KS. Burial is in Randall Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Randall Church.
