Betty L. Kettelhut, the daughter of Louis Artz and Gertie M. (Frye) Artz, was born September 23, 1924 at rural Byron, NE and passed away on November 20, 2012 at the Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home, Hebron, NE at the age of 88 years, 1 month, and 27 days.
Betty grew up in the Byron area receiving her early education in the local public schools and graduating from Belleville High School. After her graduation, she worked at the ASC Office (Farm Services) in Belleville, KS for a time.
On January 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clarence W. Kettelhut and one daughter LuAnn came to bless the home. The couple made their home on the family farm for many years until their retirement. They lived in Belleville, KS and Lincoln, NE and spent winters in Mesa, AZ. They had lived in Hebron in recent years. Clarence preceded her in death on November 9, 2012.
Betty was confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Byron, NE in 1948 where she was a faithful and active member for many years. She also was a member of the IGOYOUGO Extension Club of South Byron.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence W. Kettelhut, infant brother: Dale, one sister: Velda (Stafford) Botsford, and a niece Kay Stafford Inman; and one grandson: Philip Jon.
She is survived by one daughter LuAnn Petropoulos and husband Phil of Rochester, NH; three granddaughters: Christena, Jessica, and Alexandria, other relatives, and friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Byron, NE with Pastor Myron Myers, officiating.
Interment will follow the services.
Friends may call from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM Friday at the Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home, Belleville, KS.
