Kay LaVon Jones

Kay LaVon Jones, 69 years of age, of Concordia, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Sunset Nursing Home in Concordia. She was born on June 14, 1943 in Concordia to Kenneth V. and Alice M. (Sadler) Gordanier. Kay graduated from Jamestown High School in 1961. She married James "Jim" Jones on September 8, 1961 in Concordia. Kay retired from the Concordia Blade-Empire in 2004 after 30 years. She was a darkroom supervisor. Kay was an avid NASCAR fan with her favorite driver being the #99 car, Carl Edwards. She loved being a mother and grandmother and especially loved her "doggies", Ringo and Girlie.

Kay is survived by 2 daughters, Beckie Jones and Kenyen Bean of Beloit, Robin Lambert and husband Terry of Concordia; 3 grandchildren, Phillip Shamburg, Preston Shamburg and wife Heather, Jaleesa Shamburg; 5 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Beverly Walker of Concordia, Jeanie Psalmond and husband Jerry of Moultrie, Georgia; brother, Kenneth "Skip" Gordanier and wife Neta of Minneapolis; 2 sisters in law, Rose Erickson and husband Don of Marquette, Nellie Gordanier of Haysville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim on March 31, 2000; and a brother, Rodney Gordanier.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia with Larry Retherford officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia. Visitation will be held from noon to 9 PM Monday, December 3, 2012 in the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia with family greeting friends from 6 to 7:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to the Post Rock Humane Society, Meadowlark Hospice, or the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be left online at www.chapbuoy.com.
