Alvina M. Newell

Alvina M. Newell, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Aden) Grummert, was born on March 30, 1927 on a farm near Superior, Nebraska. She passed away on December 19, 2012 at Superior Good Samaritan Society, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 85 years, 8 months, 19 days.

Alvina attended St. Paul's Lutheran School and was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hardy. She was united in marriage to Earl Newell on August 11, 1944 in Belleville, Kansas and to this union 6 children were born. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an awesome cook and was specially known for her mashed potato donuts. She also worked outside the home at the Hilltop Café in Superior and the café in Republic, Kansas.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Hardy and the LCW.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Earl January 1994; son James Newell, daughter-in-law Nancy Newell, sons-in-law Larry Persson and Darrell McCorkle, four brothers Ivan, Lloyd, Allen and Albert and two sisters Pauline Dorman and Clara Mahieu.

She is survived by her daughters Charlotte Persson of Superior, Nebraska, Charlene Robison of Kearney, Nebraska, Nancy McCorkle of Burr Oak, Kansas, Alice Belden and husband David of Burr Oak, Kansas and Pat Mohler and husband Evan of Coolidge, Arizona; brothers Larry Grummert of Hastings, Nebraska, Everett Grummert of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harold Grummert of Hastings, Nebraska and Lenard Grummert of Hastings, Nebraska; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren, and one great greatgrandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
