Edith Sloane

Edith Earlene Sloane, the daughter of John and Oliva (Bethscheider) McDonald, was born on the family farm on May 17, 1920 in Hebron, Nebraska. She went to be with her Lord on December 20, 2012 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska at the age of 92 years, 7 months, 3 days.

Edith was one of nine children; she received her formal education attending Sacred Heart Catholic School in Hebron and graduated from Hebron High School. She was united in marriage to William Clair Sloane on July 29, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron, Nebraska. To this union 11 children were born. She was employed with the Department of Agriculture while living in Hebron.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hebron while growing up and a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Superior, the Altar Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Nuckolls County Genealogy Society, and the Brodstone Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She lived in the communities of Hebron and Superior and was a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Superior.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Clair on October 21, 2007; sons Albert John and Patrick, a granddaughter Kim Griffith and one great grandchild; five brothers Allen, Kenny, Eugene, Joseph and James LeRoy and three sisters Bernita, Ruth and Lois.

She is survived by her children: Teresa Wilson and husband Joe and William F. "Bill" all of Superior, Nebraska, Monica Buster and husband Eldon of Deshler, Nebraska Robert and wife Lavonna, Donald and wife Peg, Karen Harwell and husband Ron, Janice Hatzenbuehler and husband Chuck and Jennifer Wyatt and husband Alan all of Superior, and John and wife Ginger of Abilene, Kansas; 29 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
