Fielden Glenn Figgins

Fielden Glenn Figgins was born October 20, 1935, on a farm northwest of Burr Oak, Kansas, to Cecil Russell and Gladys Irene (Bisbee) Figgins. Glenn departed this life on December 23, 2012, at the Brodstone Memorial Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 77 years, 2 months, and 3 days.

He was married to Phyllis Giger. To this union three children were born - Aaron, Gary and Carla. Then he married Peggy Burns, to this union three children were born - Glenna Sue, Butch and Scott.

Glenn was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Hillsboro, Kansas in 1976.

Glenn worked for Dean Hunter on his farm, Yost Pack, Swift Packing Plant, and worked at several dairy farms.

When Glenn retired, he moved to Burr Oak in 1995. He had a joy of life; always a smile for everyone, loved to joke and no one was a stranger to him.

Glen loved to watch the Nebraska Husker football games, walking, playing cards with family, and have Deb watch TV shows with him. Every Sunday, he would have family and friends (Deb Underwood and Barb Howard) at his house for coffee. He enjoyed having Vern, Kay, Kasha, Justin, Elisha, Ericia, Michael, and Jessica coming and seeing him a lot.

Glenn is survived by his children - Aaron and wife Carol Sohl of Powderhorn, Colorado, Gary and wife, Mona Sohl of Phillips, Nebraska, Glenna Sue and husband, Curt Chandler of Bloomington, Illinois, Fielden Glenn "Butch" and wife, Julie Figgins, of Salina, Kansas, Scott and wife, Lisa Figgins, of Camarillo, California; siblings - Loreen and husband, Don Bird of Esbon, Kansas, Charlotte and husband, Norman Pletcher of Lebanon, Kansas, Pauline and husband, Emory "Jr." Mills of Rush, Colorado, Twila Morris of Burr Oak, Kansas, Carl and wife, Karen Figgins of Mankato, Kansas, Fern and husband, Merl Reed of Burr Oak, Kansas, Marilyn and husband, Rick Warneking of Burr Oak, Kansas, Carolyn Barnes and special friend, Jim Pursell of Superior, Nebraska, Joan and husband, Terry Pate of Esbon, Kansas; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Franklin; daughter, Carla; nephew, Neil Pate, and brother-in-law, Cleo Morris.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be (was) Saturday, December 29, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church, Burr Oak, Kansas, with Pastor Gerry Sharp and Mr. Kelly McNichols officiating. Mrs. Gloria Schlaefli played the piano, and Mrs. Beverly Frost, sang, "His Eyes on the Sparrow" and "Softly and Tenderly." Casket bearers were - John Bird, Lester Pletcher, Elliott Harris, Michael Reed, Alan Mills, Aaron Christenson, Vernon Morris, and Justin Pate. Honorary casket bearers were - Don Bird, Norman Pletcher, Emory "Jr." Mills, Jim Pursell, Rick Warneking, Merl Reed, Terry Pate, and Karen Figgins. Interment followed service in the Burr Oak Cemetery, Burr Oak, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Burr Oak Cemetery Fund.
