Katherine A. Nippert-95 of Hebron, NE Hebron Memorial Funeral Home-Hebron 402-768-6165 Katherine A. Nippert of Hebron, NE, the daughter of Arthur and Susanna (Hanson)Venell, was born October 25, 1917 in rural Shickley, NE. She departed this life Monday, January 14, 2013 at the Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home in Hebron at the age of 95 years.
Katherine attended country school at rural Shickley District #87 and graduated from Shickley High School with the class of 1934. She attended Kearney State College for a year and another summer at Hastings College before teaching the next four years at rural Valley View district #59 near Davenport. It was while teaching at Valley View that she met Ellsworth Nippert, a young farmer-to-be in the rural Davenport area. Katherine and Ellsworth were married on June 15, 1941 at her parents' farm near Shickley, NE. This marriage was blessed with the birth of three children. Katherine and Ellsworth enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Their home was always filled with lots of fun and fellowship and delicious meals. Music, card games, quilting, and entertaining family and friends-that was Mom. It was a wonderful life! We love her forever. Katherine was a member of the United Church of Christ in Belvidere, NE. She took an active part in the church, teaching Sunday school, serving on various committees, and church board over the past 68 years. She was also a member of numerous community organizations, such as the "Help One Another Club", Bruning Women's Club, bridge club, Extension club and other social groups over the years.
She is preceded in death by her parents A.J. and Sanna Venell; husband, Ellsworth; and four sisters, Moneta Swenson and husband Elmer, Maurine Zetterman and husband Verlie, Marian Venell, and Ruth Pearson. She is survived by three children: Larry Nippert and wife Patti of Carleton, NE; Gail Ward and husband Ron of Fairbury; Ward Nippert and wife Pat of McPherson, KS; eight grandchildren: Krista Sanchez and husband Roger of Dublin, CA; Kasi Horwart and husband Patrick of Cambridge, NE; Jesse Nippert and wife Anna of Manhattan, KS; Lynne Ward of North Platte, NE; Jani Billups of Omaha, NE; Aaron Ward and wife Shannon of Lincoln, NE; Heather Dannahower and husband Dan of Fort Collins, CO; and Sara Arens and husband Chad of Waverly, NE; 18 great-grandchildren; Emil Pearson, brother-in-law of Davenport, NE; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be Saturday January 19, 2013 at The United Church of Christ in Belvidere, NE at 11 AM.
