Margaret Hattan

Margaret Hattan died January 23rd, 2013 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS. She was born at rural Deweese, NE, to James and Clara (Barta) Mazour on December 30th, 1927. After graduating from Nelson High School in May 1945, she worked at the office of the county treasurer until her marriage to Hubert "Hugh" Hattan on June 7th, 1949, in Deweese. She worked for Continental Oil Company in Lincoln, NE, while Hugh was in dental school. In July 1952, they moved to Concordia where he started his dental practice with Dr. C.J. Whitney. Over the years, she was very involved with Jaycee Jaynes (president), Cub Scouts, Camp Fire Girls (Council President, plus leader and other board positions). She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas for almost 50 years and served as Regent and other offices. As a longtime member of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary and the CCHC Auxiliary, she served as president and on other committees. She is now a member of the Altar Society & two Bridge Clubs.

Survivors include daughters, Susan & husband Steve Kittrell, Washington D.C., Linda & husband Ron Logan, Olathe; sons, Dr. Greg Hattan and wife Janice, Concordia, Richard Hattan and wife Patti, Scottsdale, AZ & Dr. Mike Hattan and wife Carla, Hays; grandchildren, Justin & Jennifer Hattan, Brett & Brandon Logan, Jessica (Hattan) Christensen & Paul Hattan, Holly & Ross Hattan; great grandchildren; Alexander & Benjamin Christensen & Colin Logan & two sisters, Kathryn Murtaugh and Cecilia Mazour, both of Lincoln, NE.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Hugh on February 25th, 2009, and infant sister Mary.

Visitation will be held from 10 am to 9 pm with an Altar Society Rosary at 5 pm and Vigil Services at 6:30 pm, Fri., Jan. 25, 2013 at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Sat., Jan. 26, 2013, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Rev. Barry Brinkman, and burial will follow the services in St. Concordia Cemetery.
