Oliver L. "Pete" Farver

Oliver Leroy Farver, the son of Otto and Mary (Baker) Farver, was born on September 26, 1921 in Nelson, Nebraska. He passed away on February 18, 2013 at Brodstone Memorial Hospital at the age of 91 years, 4 months, 23 days.

Pete graduated from Nelson High School in 1939. He was inducted into the United States Army on June 29, 1942 and was honorably discharged on November 5, 1945. He served overseas in France, Germany, Austria and Italy, earning three battle stars and the good conduct medal.

He was united in marriage to Mary Frances Redding on January 4, 1948 in Lincoln, Nebraska. They made their home in Cozad, Nebraska where Pete was a Superintendent at Continental Grain; upon his retirement they moved to Nelson, Nebraska where Pete was raised.

He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in both Cozad and Nelson. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends and reminiscing. He loved horses and early in life he farmed with them. Together Pete and Frances would always go see the Sandhill Cranes near Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Frances on January 13, 1999; four brothers Earl, Ora, Jess and Elbert and two sisters Margaret Reed and Opal Stahl.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews and many friends.
