Harold R. Fischer

Harold Ray Fischer of Hebron, NE the son of John and Alma(Loetterle)Fischer was born October 6, 1929 in rural Hebron, NE. He departed this life Friday February 22, 2013 at Bryan LGH West in Lincoln, NE at the age of 83 years.

Harold was baptized November 28, 1929 at Zion Lutheran Church in Carleton, NE and confirmed May 28, 1944 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron.

Harold grew up in the rural Hebron area and attended District #37 and #55 country schools through the eighth grade, then helping his father on the farm. In later years Harold was proud to have earned his GED.

Harold married Darlene Scholz on May 20, 1951 at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron. This union was blessed with the birth of three children.

He joined the National Guard serving for 6 years. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as head usher for over 50 years, and the church council. He taught Sunday School and was the Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He also served on the Hebron Coop and Hubbell Elevator boards for several years and the board for Blue Valley Lutheran Nursing Home.

Harold farmed all of his life, understanding the real meaning of God's gift of the earth. He liked gardening, helping Darlene with the Colorado peaches, visiting with friends, playing cards, but most of all spending time with his family.

Harold is preceded in death by his parents.

Harold is survived by his wife Darlene of Hebron, NE, son Gene Fischer and wife Laurie of Hebron, two daughters; Kathy Schinstock and husband Dan of Lincoln, NE, and Ruth Ball of Wichita, KS, grandchildren Sean Schinstock of Lincoln, Nichole Petersen and husband Fred of Omaha, NE, Charissa Evans and husband Brock, Trevor Ball and fiance´ MaeLauren Elliott all of Wichita, KS, Dylan, Trey, and Skylar Fischer all of Hebron, NE great-grandchildren Olive and Ellie Petersen of Omaha and Parker Evans of Wichita, brother; Glenn Fischer and wife Twila of Hebron, NE, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday February 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Hebron, NE. Officiant Pastor Keith Brozek, organist Brenda Striggow, congregational hymns "What A Friend We Have In Jesus", "My Hope Is Built On Nothing Less", and "Onward Christian Soldier", casket bearers James Schroeder, Lonny Jacobitz, Dennis Kugel, Charles Fangmeier, David Fangmeier, and Rick Kassebaum, honorary casket bearers are the grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday February 25 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Hebron Memorial Funeral Home in Hebron. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hebron, NE.
