Carol Jean Weber was born Aug. 5, 1940, and passed onto her eternal reward Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the age of 72. She was born to Leo and Elizabeth (Karleskint) Reiter on a farm 6 miles north of Beloit. She was the third of four children. She attended country schools until fourth grade, and then went to St. John's Catholic Grade and High School, graduating in 1958. She met LeRoy Weber at the St. John's Harvest Festival and entered into Holy Matrimony on Oct. 1, 1960.
Carol worked at Duckwalls until they started a family and then stayed at home to raise her five children as she felt this was her most important role as wife and mother. She instilled in her children and grandchildren good Catholic values and was an active member of her faith. She regularly attended Eucharistic Adoration and had a special devotion to our Heavenly Mother, Mary, praying the family rosary daily.
In December 2010, her health declined and she moved to Hilltop Lodge in February 2011 until her death. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church all her life and participated in the St. John's Ladies Guild, Legion of Mary and Prayer Chain.
Carol is survived by Tom Weber, of Beloit, Steve (Jill) Weber, of Cawker City, with stepchildren, Ryan, Drew, Caitlin and Mason Duskie, Jeanne Weber, of Hays, Julie (Bryan) McCoy, of Vassar, and their children Jessica, Samantha, Garrett and Katelynn, Carolyn (Chad) Woerner, of Newton, and daughter, Calista. Also surviving are her brother, Richard (Kathy) Reiter, and a sister, Delores (Bill) Charbonneau.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, LeRoy; brother, Joseph Reiter; brother-in-law, John Engelbert; and sister-in-law, DeeAnn Reiter.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. today at Harrison Funeral Home, and a vigil/ rosary service at 7 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at St. John's Catholic Church, with interment at St. John's Cemetery and the funeral Mass celebrated by Father Joseph Kieffer and Father Don McCarthy.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to be given to the St. John's Education Fund or the St. John's Cornerstone Foundation.
