William “Bill” A. Pickard

William "Bill" A. Pickard, 85, Agenda, KS, passed away surrounded by family and friends on March 25, 2013 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS after a lengthy illness.
Bill was born October 26, 1927 on a farm south of Haddam, KS to William and Lottie Pickard. He graduated from Agenda High School in 1945, and soon after joined the Merchant Marines. In 1948, after serving in the Merchant Marines, Bill returned back to Agenda. He was united in marriage in 1948 to Dollie Kolman. The two were blessed with four children: Joan, Mike, Doug, and Billy. They spent 35 years together before Dollie's passing in 1983.
In 1985, Bill was married his best friend, Peg Bishop. Farming was a way of life from a young age until retirement in 1996. Bill owned and managed a Custom Harvesting and Farming Operation in Agenda. Bill and Peg loved to travel and have been to many different places. Many winter were spent in Victoria Palms, TX, making memories with close friends. Bill will be remembered for his sense of humor and love of dancing. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandpa and friend. Bill was an active and long-time member of the Moose Lodge in Concordia, the Elks Lodge, and the Agenda United Methodist Church.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Pickard and Lottie Nordquist, his wife, Dollie Kolman Pickard, his son Doug Pickard, his step-son, Scott Bishop and step-father George Nordquist.
Bill leaves behind many loving memories to be cherished by his wife of 28 ears, Peg (Bishop) Pickard, His children: Joan Pickard of Clyde, KS, Mike and his wife Jody Pickard of Byars, OK; and Billy Pickard of Agenda, KS. His step-children Brett Bishop of Phoenix, AZ, and Tim and his wife Trish Bishop of Concordia, KS; his half-sister Anita and husband Glen Boutz of Mulvane, KS; his grandchildren: Tricia (Pickard) and Jett Hillman, Shayne (Pickard) and Cimarron Boardman, Daniel Pickard, Wendy Pickard, Joey Pickard, and Kelia Pickard; his 4 step grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many close friends.
Funeral services will be held at ELEVEN AM, Saturday, March 30. 2013 at the Agenda United Methodist Church, with Pastor Sandra Jellison-Knock, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Agenda Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by William Fleming American Legion Post #345, Cuba, KS.
Visitation will be from One PM until Nine PM on Thursday and from 9AM until 9PM on Friday at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home where the family will greet friends from 6PM until 8PM on Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Agenda United Methodist Church or the Cuba American Legion.
