Gloria Cleo (Ramaker) Garey, 83, died March 26, 2013. She was born March 23, 1930 in rural Downs, KS to Henry and Sue (Eggink) Ramaker. She married Meryl George Garey on August 30, 1951.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Downs where she played in the bell choir, served as secretary for the UM Women and co-chaired the Lord's Acre Fundraiser for over 20 years. She also volunteered at the local food bank. She valued education and worked in the school library and as a teacher's aide.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley DeJong.
Survivors include: husband, Meryl, of the home; daughters, Gia Moser and husband, Rick of St. Charles, Illinois and Ginna Sharp and husband, Brian of Downs; grandchildren Abbey Dodson, Aeriel Dodson, Chace Weis, Coe Weis, Clayton Sharp, Emily Moser, Nicholas Moser, and Matt Moser; and brother-in-law, Ray DeJong, niece, Shawn DeJong, and great-nephew, Jeremy DeJong, of Denver, CO.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Downs. A visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 29 at the church. A memorial fund has been established to the Meryl and Gloria Garey Lakeside High School Scholarship Fund. Domoney Funeral Home, 817 Morgan Avenue, Downs, is in charge of arrangements.
