Disability Planning Organization of Kansas, Inc. to Host Community Forum on KanCare

Beloit, KS - Tom Laing, Executive Director of InterHab will be a featured presenter at a community forum on KanCare hosted by Disability Planning Organization of Kansas, Inc. (DPOK) on April 8, 2013 at 6:30 pm at Beloit Municipal Building (basement). This forum is open to the public and will discuss the Governor's recent implementation of KanCare, a Medicaid program managed by three insurance companies and its effects on persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Persons with intellectual/developmental disabilities, their family members and guardians are encouraged to attend.
Laing will discuss the I/DD service-network's desire to achieve a permanent carve-out of long-term I/DD services from KanCare. He will provide a snapshot of the political climate at the Statehouse, share updates on how KanCare is already affecting persons with disabilities, and encourage attendees to urge action from their local legislators.
A long-time statehouse advocate and former legislative staffer, Tom leads InterHab members in strategic advocacy efforts with Kansas legislators and stakeholders.
