Albertina "Anita" Janetha Woerner

Albertina "Anita" Janetha Woerner, 51 years and 9 days, was called home to her Lord on April 6, 2013 after a long struggle with cancer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, noon until 9 p.m., at Ward Funeral Home in Linn, KS. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 10, at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn.

Anita was born to Cornelius Petrus Le Roux and Elizabeth Sovya (Meyer) Le Roux, on March 28, 1962 in Sasolburg, South Africa. She was baptized at the Apostolic Faith Mission in Sasolburg the following year.

She attended primary school in Sasolburg High School. Upon completing high school, she attended college at Pretoria Technikon in Pretoria, South Africa and received a Diploma in Biological Science.

Upon completing college Anita worked at Bayside Aluminum in Richards Bay as a computer operator, and then for 16 years as a Senior Quality Controller for Karbochem in Sasolburg. She also worked as a receptionist and secretary for law office in Sasolburg.

One of Anita's greatest joys was traveling, and in her life she visited many places, including Brazil, England, and Dubai. In Dubai, Anita also worked for the Burj Al Arab Hotel in the guest security department.

Anita also traveled to the United States on work visas, and worked for Christiansen Family Farms in Minnesota and for J6 Farms in Kansas. While working in Clifton, KS, she met Kent Woerner. They were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church, Linn, on May 31, 2008. She was confirmed into the Lutheran Church on February 22, 2009.

Anita and her husband resided in Beloit, KS, where she was employed by Unified School District 273 as a Paraprofessional. Here, she found a new joy in life working with children with disabilities. Anita continued her love of travel with Kent, taking several trips to South Africa, Mozambique, and many parts of the United States. Anita became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States of America on September 28, 2012.

Along with travel, Anita also enjoyed cooking, knitting, ribbon embroidery, wood carving, and other crafts. She also enjoyed gardening and flowers, especially roses, and was a lifelong lover of animals. Most of all, Anita is best remembered for her caring, giving nature, always smiling face, and her devout faith in God.

Anita was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth; and grandparents, Cornelius and Lenie Le Roux and Willem Meyer.

Survivors include her husband, Kent, of the home; father, Cornelius Le Roux and wife Gerbrechtje (Breggie) of Richards Bay, South Africa; grandmother, Tienie De Kock of Sasolburg, South Africa; brother, Corrie Le Roux and wife Zelda of Sasolburg; brother, Gert Le Roux and wife Vennesa of Richards Bay; sister, Annelize Thesner and husband Kobus of Alberton, SA; brother, Riaan Le Roux and wife Sharon of Thabamzimbi, SA; brother, Jaun Le Roux and wife Ruline of Richards Bay; father-in-law, Raymond Woerner, Linn, KS; brothers-in-law, Mike Woerner and wife Beth of Washington, KS, Craig Woerner and wife Doris of Greenleaf, KS, and Kevin Woerner and wife Michelle of Cheyenne, WY; also many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and countless friends from around the world.
