Cawker City, KS: Carolyn Marie (May) Miller was born near Mankato, Kansas on June 6, 1943, the daughter of Tom and Marie (DeBey) May. After a courageous 7-year battle with cancer, Carolyn passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013, at the Mitchell County Hospital at the age of 69. She worked as the manager of West Lake Inn, Downs.
Survivors include: her husband, Marvin, of the home; sons, Duane (Kathy) Miller, Downs; Bruce (Lisa) Miller, rural Ionia; a daughter, Donna (Danny) Kennedy, Downs; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren; father, Allen "Rol" Koops, Cawker City; adopted sisters, Carol Cordel and Cindy Lance; sister-in-law, Norma Miller; brothers-in-law, Eldon Miller, Melvin Miller, Darrel Miller (Gail); aunts, Margaret Ketterer, Alice Rice, Mary Sue Elsey and Betty May; an uncle, Kenneth DeBey, and a host of other family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Thomas and Marie Caroline May and Rhoda Koops; a son Larry Dale; a sister, Peggy; nieces, Korena Keefer and Christine Williamson; and a great-granddaughter, Shelbie Paige Schreiner.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Dispatch Christian Reformed Church, Cawker City, KS with Rev. Pat Hennen officiating. Visitation will be Monday, May 13, 2013 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Church. Burial will be in the Dispatch Cemetery, Cawker City. Memorials may be made to the Carolyn Miller Memorial, benefitting St. Jude Children's Hospital in care of the funeral home. Domoney Funeral Home, Downs, is in charge of arrangements.
