Rodger H. Larson

Rodger Harold Larson, the son of Harold Emanuel Larson and Madaline Alice (Shaffer) Larson, was born April 20, 1943 at Concordia, KS and passed away on May 19, 2013 at the Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, KS at the age of 70 years and 29 days.
Rodger grew up and attended the local public schools of Scandia, KS, graduating from Scandia High School in 1961. Following his schooling, he worked for Alsop Sand Co. and later the Bureau for Reclamation at Glen Elder for several years. He then worked at Wes's Auto as the parts man and later for the City of Belleville Light Department. Rodger was also a feed salesman for Moorman Mfg. for over 20 years. In 1996, he began work at Twin Valley Implement, Belleville, KS, later was employed at Reinke's Mfg, Deshler, and for the last 6 years worked at S&P Farm Repair, just recently retiring.
On July 15, 1962 he was united in marriage to Betty Hammer and to this union was born two daughters: Libby Jo and Jody Lynne. The couple made their home in Scandia and Jewell, KS, moving to Belleville in 1968.
Rodger was a member of the Landmark Church of Belleville, KS and the Promise Keepers.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Madaline Larson.
Rodger is survived by his wife Betty Larson of Belleville, KS; two daughters: Libby (Bob) Vathauer of Manhattan, KS and Jody (Kevin) Cromwell of Haddam, KS; two sisters: Linda (John) Odell and Nancy (Charlie) Jefferson; one brother Ron (Yvette) Larson all of Scandia, KS; 5 grandchildren: Cody and Colton Ramsey, Danielle, Kalen, and McKenzie Cromwell; 4 step grandchildren: Stacy (Mike) Vermetten, Jenny ( Mike) Einspahr, Jerod ( Jessica) Vathauer and Daniel (Jenna) Vathauer; 12 step great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Central Christian Church, Belleville, KS with Pastor Rick Rehmert and Pastor Mark Imel, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Belleville Cemetery, Belleville, KS.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday and from 9:00 AM until 9:00 PM on Thursday at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 8PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
