Harry E. Marty

Harry Ellsworth Marty, the son of Cloyd Marty and Neva (Johnson) Marty, was born April 1, 1937 at Courtland, KS and passed away on July 4, 2013 at the Salina Regional Health Center at the age of 76 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
Harry grew up and attended schools in Belleville, KS, graduating from Belleville High School in 1955. Following his graduation, he served with the U.S. Army for two years at Ft. Bliss-El Paso, TX. He returned to Courtland where he worked in and assumed ownership of his uncle's blacksmith shop. In 1969, he began work with the Rock Island Railroad at Herington, KS working for the railroad until 1981. He then was an insurance agent in Herington, working for American Family Shelter Insurance. In 1984, he returned to Belleville, KS, where he worked as a book keeper for Walthers Oil in Cuba for several years until his retirement.
On November 7, 1964 he was united in marriage to Arlene Kathrineberg and to this union was born Lisa and Lori. Arlene preceded him in death on May 23, 2010.
Harry was a member of the Central Christian Church in Belleville, and the First Baptist Church in Herington.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Arlene; brother-in-laws, Leslie Earl Beames and Kenny Kathrineberg.
Harry is survived two daughters Lisa (Kent) Otott of Concordia, KS and Lori (Rick) Benyshek of Belleville, KS; two sisters, Wynona (Gene) Spannenberg of Belleville, KS and Geraldine Beames of Memphis, TN; 7 grandchildren; sister-in-laws: Barb Kathrineberg of Salina, KS and Charlene (Raymond) Novak of Hesston, KS; brother-in-law Paul Kathrineberg of Phoenix, AZ, other relatives, and many friends.
Cremation was selected and memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Central Christian Church with Mark Imel and Kent Otott, officiating.
Private family inurnment will be held at the Courtland Cemetery, Courtland, KS.
Friends may call to register at Bachelor-Surber Funeral Home from One PM until 8 PM on Tuesday with the family greeting friends from 6PM until 8 PM.
A coffee will be held after the memorial services at the Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Central Christian Church Youth Fund, the Morrison House-Salina, or the NCK Teens for Christ.
